When considering undergoing a procedure such as a breast augmentation, it’s best to understand the full extent of what is required of you. These procedures should not be taken lightly, and it’s best if you seek out skilled plastic surgeons for the right results. We asked client’s what the recovery for breast augmentation was like for them, and found some common things to help make it easier for you.
What Is A Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation, sometimes referred to as a “boob job,” involves using breast implants or fat to increase the size of your breasts, to restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy, to achieve a more rounded shape or to improve natural breast size asymmetry.
What’s The Cost?
If you are a breast augmentation candidate, it is important to note that the price of a breast augmentation varies based on many factors. Please contact Dr. Brothers at Plastic Surgery Centre of Atlanta for a full assessment of your situation and to get an accurate estimate for the cost of the surgery for you.
Is a Breast Augmentation Covered By Health Insurance?
Most health insurance plans will not cover cosmetic breast augmentation costs, related complications or another surgery to revise the appearance of your breasts. Some carriers even exclude breast diseases in patients who have breast implants. Carefully review your health insurance policy before having your breast augmentation.
What About The Recovery Time?
Breast augmentation recovery typically requires that patients minimize physical activity for 3 to 7 days before slowly resuming more strenuous tasks. The amount of downtime required, and the amount of time needed to make a full recovery that allows you to resume all regular activity, is largely dependent upon where the incision was placed, the size of the implant, and whether the breast implant was placed above or below the pectoral muscle.
