Think you’re alone in your quest for a better body? Think again! A new study commissioned by the website Real Self finds that 1 out of 5 women consider plastic surgery, due in large part to reality TV and selfie culture.
Why do women want plastic surgery? A surprising 90 percent of the women surveyed between the ages of 18-24 reported being unhappy with at least one body part. This has lead to an increase in awareness and interest in plastic surgery, especially among younger women.
“More and more women are concerned about their bodies. Reality TV and social media open up women’s eyes to the positive ways that surgeons can help transform their appearance,” explains Dr. Brothers. “Seeking treatment helps many women feel better about specific body parts and often improves patients’ overall happiness.”
