Medical Spa in Atlanta, GAOver the past few years, there has been a sharp increase in demand for cosmetic surgical procedures for men. Just last year, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery released its annual report on industry trends of 2015, and the results were kind of staggering. First, Americans spent more than $13.5 billion getting work done last year, which is roughly $1.5 billion more than they spent in 2014. Secondly, while only 9.5% of the cosmetic procedures performed in the U.S. last year were on male clients, the number of men partaking in cosmetic procedures has grown by 325% since 1997.

Liposuction

Suction lipectomy, also known as liposuction, is a cosmetic surgical procedure performed to remove stubborn fatty deposits from different areas of the body. The best male candidates for liposuction are men who are in good shape but still have trouble areas that diet and exercise do not improve. All patients who are overweight are best suited with a diet and exercise routine and not liposuction. Liposuction should not be used as a weight loss tool but a beneficial stepping stone to a beautiful body.

Nose and Eyelid Surgery

Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is the surgical modification of the shape of the nose, also known as “nose job surgery” or nose reshaping, this procedure can be performed either “open” (using an external incision) or “closed” (using incisions only on the inside of the nose). Male eyelid surgery is slightly different than in female surgery.  The masculine features of the male face are important to retain.  Particularly, with lower eyelids, it is important not to feminize this area.  The total look of the male face is important, which is why many patients choose to combine nose or eyelid surgery with a facelift.

Male Breast-Reduction

Gynecomastia is a medical condition that causes enlarged breasts or breast buds in men. It is a surgery that might be better recognized by the name of male breast reduction. Male toddlers and adolescents can develop breast buds, but most of the cases resolve before young adulthood. We recommend that you discuss your gynecomastia with Dr. Brothers. The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are unusual.
