The holidays are very quickly approaching, and it’s a time of magic—but it’s also a season when money seems to fly out of our wallets. Luckily, there are plenty of free things to do in Atlanta this time of year, so you and your friends can have a great time on the cheap, no matter how many elves you are obliged to entertain.

Thrillist recently published an article about the best free things to do in Atlanta, and we wanted to highlight a some of their favorites, along with a few of our own!

1. RAISE YOUR GLASS TO A SECRET BREWERY TOUR

Atlanta’s beer scene is hopping, so pick up a pint and get on the tour. Georgia prohibits breweries from selling their own beer, but if you pay a few dollars for a commemorative glass, many breweries will fill it up for free. Wrecking Bar Brewpub has tours every Saturday and you’ll get to sip a frothy pint for free.

2. STRETCH IT OUT WITH FREE YOGA IN THE PARK

Feeling a little bloated thanks to heavy holiday season foods? Why not nurture your body and mind with a little yoga? There are lots of awesome yoga studios in Atlanta, but sometimes the great outdoors is just what you need to say “om.” Atlantic Station’s Central Park hosts free yoga as part of its Wellness Wednesdays.

3. RIDE AN ATLANTA STREETCAR

This hot new way to get around Atlanta is totally free for the rest of 2015. Speed past the city’s greatest spots in a brand new streetcar for both fun and travel convenience.

4. LAUGH IT UP WITH FREE COMEDY

Laughter is the best medicine, but it’s even better when it’s free. Some of the city’s top comedy clubs, such as the Village Theatre, have free late night shows.

5. TAKE A WALK THROUGH ATLANTA’S BEST ART

The First Thursday Art Walk lets you stroll through some of the city’s most artistic neighborhoods and see the masterpieces up close, completely free of charge. It’s a great opportunity to fall in love with Atlanta’s artistic history and while away an afternoon.

6. GET SOME FRESH AIR AT AUTREY MILL NATURE PRESERVE

Explore 46 acres of historic revine forest and see some of Atlanta’s most beautiful landscapes on the heritage center’s stunning walking trails. It’s a free, fun way to experience nature close to home.

7. GO OLD SCHOOL AT THE GOVERNOR’S MANSION

Whether you’re interested in politics, history, or architecture, you’ll likely enjoy getting a peek at Atlanta’s Governor’s Mansion. Tours of this 18-acre estate and opulent mansion are sure to take you back in time. Why not party like it’s 1799?

8. CHILL WITH THE ANIMALS

Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary is full of interesting and inspiring animals of all sizes. You’ll have the opportunity to spend time with interesting critters and see how they’re being protected at this wildlife rehabilitation center.

9. PLAY HARD AT PIEDMONT PARK

Ready to let off some steam or get your kids moving over holiday break? Piedmont Park is a must-do. Kids can jump all over the park’s sturdy public art or let loose at the restored Noguchi Playscape. Dogs can run off leash in the dog park and Atlanta’s mild weather makes picnicking fun almost year round.
