One of the more popular full-body makeover techniques is the Hourglass Mommy Makeover. This individualized and detail-oriented procedure comprises more surgical procedures than a typical mommy makeover for a more contoured body.

What an Hourglass Mommy Makeover Consists Of

The Hourglass Mommy Makeover consists of several different surgical procedures, including:

  • A tummy tuck
  • Liposuction
  • Breast surgery
  • Butt augmentation

The procedure results in a shapelier, more hourglass-like figure by cinching the waistline and stomach to make it smaller and more narrow, widening the hips, and enhancing the buttocks and breasts. Additionally, removing excess pockets of fat and then taking this fat (it is first cleaned before it is reinjected) and relocating it to an area of the body where fat is needed to create more shape. Your plastic surgeon can also treat other areas affected by excess stubborn fat with liposuction at this time.

Many women complain of their post-pregnancy breasts, and breast surgery is a significant component of an Hourglass Mommy Makeover. Depending on the degree of deflation and volume loss, your surgeon may recommend a breast augmentation or suggest an augmentation with a breast lift. Not every patient requires a lift, but if your breasts have significantly deflated, there is excessive loose skin, or the nipple does not sit at a high enough position, a lift with augmentation may give the best result. In addition, a breast implant is necessary to increase the breasts in size and replace any lost volume, especially at the top portion of the breasts.

Following pregnancy, it is common for loose skin to exist on the stomach and stretched out abdominal muscles. A tummy tuck permanently corrects excess skin on the stomach and a saggy belly and misshapen belly button. Your surgeon can create a flatter, tighter tummy by excising the loose skin and repairing a weak abdominal wall. In some cases, stretch marks are also eliminated if they exist in the area where the skin is removed.

The popular Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is hands down the most effective way to enhance the shape and size of the buttocks. Adding fat to the buttocks results in a rounder, shapelier, and perkier butt. Along with new breasts and a flat tummy, it is the perfect way to accentuate the lower part of the body.

How is an Hourglass Mommy Makeover Different from a Traditional Mommy Makeover?

Both procedures result in a renewed sense of self-esteem and a tight, firm body, but the Hourglass Mommy Makeover goes one step further and incorporates the buttocks. In contrast, a traditional Mommy Makeover only consists of breast surgery, liposuction, and a tummy tuck.

However, not every woman wants or needs the hourglass version, which is why a consultation with your plastic surgeon is essential. During your consultation, your surgeon will evaluate your body and determine which variation is best suited for you based on your wants and needs.

With a standard Mommy Makeover, the goal is to reverse the effects of pregnancy and weight gain and restore the body to its original appearance. But with an Hourglass Mommy Makeover, shape and curves are the goals, so there is more focus on creating these curves.

Both variations are invasive surgeries that are not to be taken lightly. Because an Hourglass Mommy Makeover involves a BBL, the recovery is intense and more prolonged since the liposuction portion of the surgery is also more invasive. Still, both require a considerable amount of downtime for a full recovery.

The Ideal Candidate

Not every woman is eligible for an Hourglass Mommy Makeover, nor does every patient want one. However, women looking to regain their pre-pregnancy body and achieve more of an hourglass figure may opt for this version of the standard mommy makeover.

Since the surgery uses a variety of procedures, it’s crucial to select the right patient to ensure the best result. Typically, the ideal candidate is in good health, at or close to their ideal weight, has experienced pregnancy, and lacks shape in her body.

What Else You Need to Know

An Hourglass Mommy Makeover is a surgical procedure usually performed in about three to four hours. It is done under general anesthesia and requires approximately two full weeks of recovery time.

It is common to experience bruising, swelling, and discomfort in the operated areas during the recovery process. As the swelling and inflammation decrease, the pain will also decrease. It’s essential to give your body plenty of time to rest to make a full recovery, which will also impact your results.

The Hourglass Mommy Makeover is a popular procedure for several reasons. Not only does it address loose skin on the stomach and tighten and firm the abdomen, but it also eliminates unwanted fat and repurposes this fat to contour and improve flat features, like the butt. The procedure also addresses the breasts, increases their size, and makes them perkier.

The results are permanent as long as you maintain your weight and take care of your body. However, while you may see improvement after the procedure, it can take upwards of six months for the full results to set in.
